Size Guide

Each style comes from its own manufacturer, so sizes are not the same from one product to the next. The product page shows the size chart for that exact item. Use this guide to measure your family and read those charts, and you'll get a great fit for everyone.

The golden rule Always choose sizes from the size chart on the product page, measured in centimeters or inches. Don't go by your usual letter size or your child's age. Many of our styles can run smaller than typical US sizes.

How to measure

Use a soft tape measure over light clothing. Keep the tape snug but not tight, and level all the way around.

Measurement How to measure
Bust / chest Around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
Waist Around the natural waist, the narrowest part of the torso, usually just above the belly button.
Hips Around the fullest part of the hips and seat, feet together.
Length For dresses and tops, from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to where you want the hem.
Height (kids and babies) Standing straight against a wall without shoes, from the floor to the top of the head. For babies, measure lying down.

Reading a product size chart

  • Garment or body measurement? Many of our charts list the garment's flat or finished measurements, not body measurements. For a comfortable fit, choose a garment 2–6 cm (1–2 in) larger than your body for fitted styles, and more for relaxed styles and pajamas.
  • Compare with clothes you love. Lay a similar item from your closet flat, measure it, and compare it with the chart. This is the most reliable method.
  • Allow a small variance. Hand measurement during manufacturing can vary by 1–3 cm (about ½–1 in).
  • Units: 1 inch = 2.54 cm. Check whether the chart is in cm or inches before comparing.

Family matching tips

  • Choose each person's size separately from that product's chart: mom, dad and each child.
  • For kids, go by height first, then chest. Children grow fast: if they are between sizes, choose the larger one.
  • Between sizes for pajamas and loungewear? Size up for comfort, especially in cotton, which can shrink slightly when washed.
  • For fitted dresses and swimwear, choose by your largest measurement (usually bust or hips).
  • Follow the care label: wash cold and line dry to keep the size and colors true.
